I write mobile software for a living. I wanted to create themes to accompany my applications. However the color rendition is absolutely awful. I create beautiful themes in the generator only to have the colors be completely off on the device. What gives?

For those of you who cannot look up additional information about this app, ThemeGenerator was written for Windows Pocket PC 2002. This means that it will not fully function with anything newer than that. Your Pocket PC should have told you that when you installed the app.

I know my hardware is kinda outdated, but this software works reasonably well for me. The theme I create transfers and all, only problem is the Windows Mobile logo stays there, and it's quite hideous. Any tips?

The problems the above correspondents have been having is because this package is only warranted for PPC 2002 and not 2003 - as it says on the MS website. That's why the download fails and the white on white text happens.

I was excited about this download after having played with some "canned" themes. However, three issues make the experience less than optimum:
1) App fails to transfer the created theme (gotten around by dropping it into the mobile "my documents" folder)
2) Color gradients don't work on the "new" and "start" bars
3) Text on the "start" menu items is always white...tedious with lighter themes
Good but could be better...anyone know of a new version for PPC 2003 (2nd edition)?

For all of you having trouble connecting to Windows Mobile 2003SE, it won't connect, BUT you can get the theme into the device just by dropping it into the root of 'Mobile Device' when ActiveSynced.

I have tried it with my old I mate, it was great, but with the new I mate PDA2K where the new windows 2003 second edition you cannot send the theme you created to your device, its says the pocket pc 2002 is not connected.

It is incredibly easy to create themes but you cannot change the color of fonts of the start menu. So I get white fonts on white themes. Ain't it stupid. Typical Microsoft.

I downloaded and used the app, only to have distribution fail to the device (PPC2002 not found). I'm sure there is something I've missed as it should work fine. On the plus side it is incredibly easy to create your own theme!

Thank you microsoft for an excellent application. You can create your own themes with this software PLUS it has a theme switcher, which will automatically change your themes on a schedule you set (if you choose to enable it). No probs loading or running it.

This app is easy to install & use, which are the top two criteria for selecting free software utilities. It is great for creating a new theme & modifying existing themes. It is a "Must have".
