Remote Control contains out of two components: a Server component for the desktop and a Client component for the Smartphone.
The connection can be done over WLAN.
You can control some media players (WinAmp, Windows Media Player, VLC, iTunes), Mouse, Keyboard, PowerPoint and Windows Media Center.

Q: How can I control VLC?
A: For this you have to activate the http-Interface in the preferences. Menu Tools -> Preferences -> Show all settings (at the bottom) -> Interface -> Main interfaces -> enable "HTTP Remote Control interface". Then restart VLC.
