Description:
Oxios Hibernate attempts to release as much memory as possible without damaging the internal state of the Windows Mobile device (Pocket PC or Smartphone).

Oxios CloseApps closes down other applications by sending "Close" messages.

WM_HIBERNATE is a window message that is generated by the Windows operating system and sent to an application when system resources are running low. All applications should get the message and handle it by attempting to release as many resources as possible by unloading processes, destroying windows, or freeing up as much local storage as possible without damaging the internal state of the system. Oxios Hibernate sends WM_HIBERNATE to all applications.

Each process started on a Windows Mobile-based Smartphone allocates memory, which cannot be released but is automatically freed when the application process ends. Oxios CloseApps closes down all applications by sending WM_CLOSE messages.

Ok, let me capitulate for a moment and revise my review :) Hibernate will work...as long as there are resources to release. How do you know? I use a task bar memory meter to check available memory after a reset to see where it peaks at. If during use the level drops way below 'normal' and you know you've closed programs that hog resources, then you can run hibernate. It really does work well when used in that manner. Just use with discretion since apparently it will hang if there are no resources to be released. I think there's a similar issue with CloseApps, if no apps are open, it hangs the machine. If fixed, I would definitely give Hibernate 5 (maybe even 6?) stars. It's a great idea. Thanks!

I thought the hibernate app would be just what I needed. It did work correctly, the first time, and freed up memory. Unfortunately, subsequent runs hung the ppc and I needed to soft reset (what I was trying to avoid in the first place.) It is a great idea, though. Maybe just needs some more tweaking?

Great app. Doesn't do damage, which so many freeware's do. Great job. Simple to run, doesn't take long either.
