Works fine on my Windows Mobile 5 device, but like others had to copy the file \GSPlayer\timidity.cfg on your handheld into the root directory ("\") of the handheld and in the program had to select File, Options and delete the '\' from the front of '\timidity.cfg' so that I could hear files being played.

Great! You have to copy tmidity.cfg to the root of your device to get to work, but it works.

It's a great MIDI player and it's free. It plays from song to song automatically. If you have problems installing the software read other reviews.

For those having difficulties understanding just what to do to get sound to work (like I did), go to File... Options... and remove the "\" from in front of the config file name so that it can find the proper MIDI banks. I have no idea why it's there in the first place...

I can't imagine this Program only 56KB can play all the Midi files and of course, it works fine...

Once running takes a little time and patients, this is an excellent programme. Handles large and complex midi files with no problems.

Hmmm... from what you all say, it sounds very good, but, even when I follow your instructions, I can't seem to get it to work. Email me on the detailed instructions please. And what do you mean by delete the / , coldfire?

Cool sound!!! Thanks a lot.

***** [Dec 6, 2004] by Daryl using ipaq 2210
Cool!!!! Thanks for the hint. The sound is wonderful, clear and adjustable! Yeah just to add, to let the sound run, we can alter the path of the timidity.cfg file. This player rocks!

To make it work, you should:
1. Download some instrument data. Actually you'd better go to the homepage and download the patch (either 1.2mb or 3mb, the bigger one has a better sound quality).
2. Modify the configuration file location. Simply delete the "\".

I note that the other reviews all have a similar problem of no sound, but the song seems to be loaded and playing. This happened to me, I re-read the instructions, it does state that the timidity file must be in the same folder as the midi player. I downloaded the instruments from the authors website, and now I have a really good medi player.

***** [Oct 29, 2004] by Eric using Pocket Loox
For making it work, you need to have some timidity sounds on it! Get them from the author's website!

** [Sep 27, 2004] by Keith using Toshiba e310 (ARM processor)
It seems working but I can't hear anything from the speaker. Is it X-scale compatible only ?

***** [Sep 6, 2004] by zac using iPAQ 5550
Everything seems fine except that I don't hear a sound when something is supposed to be playing. Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong?

***** [Jul 19, 2004] by Etienne III. using Cassiopeia E 125
I'm sure that this software would totally rock, specially cause i have a big CF-card. SIGH... If only it would work on MIPS processors, ANYONE: Please send me an eamil if you know a software midi player compatible with mips and win ce 3.

The GSPlayer MIDI Player for pocket PC is amazing and can quality of sound is almost comparable to the sound modules interfaced with sequencers. I hope the they could update this software with tempo and transpose functions. Furthermore, I hope they could add another feature on the playlist control to just play one song and then stop. (Not automatic play of the next song)
