The objective of the Solitaire version for single player, which is implemented in Smart Mahjongg, is to remove all 144 tiles from the board.

I'm afraid I agree with the concerns expressed elsewhere, even the playing card tile-set is hard to differentiate - the clubs and spades especially. The layout isn't optimised for the space - there's loads of room either end of the spread that could have been used to allow larger graphics to be used. The "tile not free" error message is tediously slow to clear and happens frequently because of the poor visuals. Sorry!

Cons: The graphics are unreadable on the screen and most of the time it's difficult to tell one tile apart from another. When you do match them wrong, a dialog comes up telling you so and it takes around 10 seconds for it to go away once you click OK. Also, the puzzle generator creates unsolvable puzzles.

Pros: The game is free.

Excellent graphics, Excellent sound, Excellent features (basic), Excellent game. Install was smooth and flawless. Hust click and it begins to download no drag and drop here and there. Installs directely into the correct folder (games) one of my pet pevs. No hang up, starts and stops perfect. Liked it so much I downloaded it to my girlfriends pda as well. :) A+ to the author. Only real bitch is that you cant see what tiles are what some times. But theres 3 styles of tile cards are one of them and its much more legible.

This game is NOT mahjong! It is a solitaire tile matching game that was invented by an American in the 1980's. Can't anyone produce a REAL CHINESE 4 PLAYER mahjong game? I hate it how these games give Westerners the wrong impression about what real mahjong is!!! And stop giving this game the wrong name. It's like making a card matching game and then calling it "Poker". What would real poker players think if that happened?????

Mahjong Solitaire has got to be thw world's single most relaxing time-waster. Years ago, when I was a graduate student I used to play this game on my powerbook before going to sleep at night. Who'd have thought that all these many years later I'd be able to play the game in full color on a little computer that fits in the palm of my hand! At any rate, this is a thoroughly enjoyable port that works well on the PPC's 320 + 240 screen (preserving the traditional tile layout). The game includes three different tilesets, including a traditional tileset that is, alas, unplayable on a 320 X 240 screen. My guess is that the author's code probably also supports VGA devices where the traditional tileset works.
